Problems
- Damage to the VVT unit or stopper pin can cause rattling upon startup
- PCV valve can get stuck in an open position and cause a rough idle. If this is allowed to persist, the engine can suck engine oil through the intake, which will cause premature wear.
AJ33 / AJ33S / AJ34 / AJ34S
The AJ33S is a supercharged version of the AJ33, and the AJ34S is a supercharged version of the AJ34. Note that Land Rover produced their own version of the supercharged AJ34 which is different from Jaguar’s AJ34S.
The AJ34 added variable valve timing to the AJ33.
